Trapezoid (trapezium)
Area and perimeter, with the formula worked through and a drawing to scale.
Result
- Area
- 32 sq ft
- = 32 sq ft · 2.9729 m²
- Perimeter
- 24.9443 ft
- = 24.9443 ft · 7.603 m
- Left side c
- 4.4721 ft
- Right side d
- 4.4721 ft
The working
Area: A = (a + b) ÷ 2 × h
Perimeter: P = a + b + c + d
A = (a + b) ÷ 2 × h = (10 + 6) ÷ 2 × 4 = 32 P = a + b + c + d = 10 + 6 + 4.4721 + 4.4721 = 24.9443
Values in feet; areas in sq ft.
About the trapezoid (trapezium)
Two parallel sides. The area is the average of the parallel sides times the height between them. Leave the slanted sides blank for an isosceles trapezoid and they are worked out for you.
Every formula on this site is explained step by step in Learn: area and perimeter.
